Arizona Highways Reception and Unveiling of Cover Art Painting
January 17, 2019
Amery Bohling, an Arizona painter with a gallery located at 7100 E. Main Street in the heart of Scottsdale’s Gallery District, is excited to reveal that one of her paintings entitled “Approaching Windy Ridge” depicting the Grand Canyon is set to appear on the cover of Arizona Highways magazine’s February 2019 issue.
Bohling reveals that she is drawn to the Grand Canyon because it provides her with a never-ending focus. She enjoys visiting the Grand Canyon often and generally paints on location, then finishes her paintings in her gallery, which doubles as her studio. Noting that the Grand Canyon is such a place of “adventure and complexity,” Bohling continues to find limitless possibilities and perspectives for her paintings among the figures, trees, canyons, and water. She feels that painting from a place of familiarity gives each painting a very personal aspect.
Dubbed the Grand Canyon Issue, the February 2019 issue of Arizona Highways, which hits newsstands in mid-January, honors the iconic Arizona landmark on its centennial anniversary of being designated as a national park. In honor of her participation in the issue, Bohling is hosting a special reception during the Scottsdale Gallery Association’s January Gold Palette ArtWalk, themed “Demonstrate… and Donuts,” on Thursday, January 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
During the reception, guests can view the original painting that is featured on the magazine’s cover, enjoy refreshments and meet and mingle with Bohling and special guests Robert Stieve, editor of Arizona Highways magazine, Susan Schroeder, CEO of the Grand Canyon Conservancy, along with the Grand Canyon Trail Crew that is depicted in the painting.
